There was no direct news on Vistry today however there was the following update from the CMA:
- The CMA has announced that it will investigate the planned takeover of Redrow PLC by Barratt Developments PLC.
- The CMA will assess whether the merger will result in a substantial lessening of competition within any markets in the UK for goods or services.
- The CMA's decision deadline for phase 1 is August 8.
- The CMA previously investigated the UK housebuilding market and found fundamental concerns, leading to an investigation into eight housebuilders, including Redrow and Barratt.
- The investigation revealed that the complex and unpredictable planning system, coupled with limitations of speculative private development, contribute to the under-delivery of new homes.
Quote: "The investigation will assess whether the creation of that merger may be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition within any markets in the UK for goods or services." - CMA
Maybe this had some negative effect on the company share price - it was not massive, considering the general market did have a negative movement. Most of my shares moved downwards around 2% on the day.
